US AMPHIBIOUS SHIPS SENT TO AID PHILIPPIENS RELIEF WORKS (Super Typhoon Yolanda Update)

WASHINGTON — The US military has ordered two amphibious ships to the Philippines to help victims of the devastating Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) and a third was poised to deploy, officials said Tuesday.

The move will ferry hundreds of US Marines to the storm-ravaged country as well as vehicles able to operate in flooded, debris strewn areas, officials said.

The US State Department has meanwhile confirmed two American fatalities from the storm which is feared to have claimed as many as 10,000 lives.

The USS Germantown and USS Ashland, amphibious warfare vessels designed to transport and launch landing craft and vehicles, have been ordered to depart for the Philippines from the southern Japanese port of Sasebo, said a Navy official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

"The ships will get under way from Sasebo shortly," the Navy official told AFP.

Another vessel, the USS Denver, an amphibious transport dock ship, had been placed on standby to prepare to deploy as well, officials said.

All three have landing decks that can serve helicopters as well as medical facilities and the capability to produce desalinated water.

The US military often employs its versatile amphibious ships for disaster relief efforts.

General Paul Kennedy, who is leading a contingent of Marines that has arrived in the Philippines, requested the amphibious ships, a senior Marine Corps official told reporters.

The general has also asked for Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft, which can land like a helicopter and fly like an airplane, and amphibious assault vehicles that could be used where roads are blocked by debris, said the official, who asked not to be named.

"We're not ruling in or out any capability that may be required to support our Philippine allies as they sort out this very terrible situation," Pentagon spokesman George Little told a news conference, saying no final order has been issued for more ships.

The American military has a team of 243 Marines on the ground in hard-hit Tacloban on Leyte island to carry out an initial assessment of humanitarian needs.

The US military presence "will be growing every day," said the Marine Corps official, adding that it will likely expand to about 1,500 to 2,000 troops in coming days.

Washington had already ordered urgent emergency efforts in response to the massive typhoon, which has destroyed entire coastal communities.

On Monday evening, the Pentagon announced it was dispatching the aircraft carrier George Washington and its accompanying cruisers and destroyers, including its fleet of 11 helicopters and dozens of airplanes.

The carrier group is due to arrive on Thursday or Friday.

Another naval destroyer and a supply ship are also en route to the Philippines.

As of Monday, US Osprey and KC-130 aircraft had delivered 107,000 pounds (48 metric tonnes) of food, water and other emergency supplies to the Philippines government, officials said.

The Marines can draw on tap water units, transport trucks and Humvee vehicles pre-positioned in the capital Manila, officials said.

American forces also had evacuated more than 160 refugees from the Tacloban area.

The US Agency for International Development also is sending enough emergency shelter and basic hygiene supplies to assist 10,000 families in the Philippines, Little said. — Agence France-Presse

SUPER TYPHOON YOLANDA (Update)

Several reliefs from all over the world came to help the victims of the families which was hit by the wrath of Super Typhoon Yolanda, the first ever, in the history of the Philippines, that strong, that big.

I am very sad to see the places and people, through online and covers from different national television stations which, inch by inch, crushes, crumpled, breaks, dead, any worst description one could ever imagine, the worst ever, the worst ever, ever faced by the Philippines.

I just couldn't think how those brokenhearted people, even me, couldn't think how to build or to start anew, from that devastation. Our deepest sympathy to those who, try to survive from the wrath of Super Typhoon Yolanda, didn't able to do so. I know, by now, they're happy to where they are.

To the families who, are able to survive, and to those families who weren't and to those part of the family who weren't able to survive, we can work it out. We can find ways to survive. Like the previous catastrophes, Filipinos are very strong in everything we do, to survive. Just stay with HIM and pray. It helps us a lot. This is just a test to our Faith. Let HIM be and always, the center in our lives during these terrible times.

In behalf of my fellow Filipinos, I would like to ask anyone, everyone and encourage everybody, who, can give anything, heartily given, in any kind, which would be of help for my fellow Filipinos. My fellow Filipinos, which was hit by Yolanda, is really in need of the following:

1. Water.
2. Medicines.
3. Foods
4. Clothes.
5. Shirts/Coats
6. Mats/Blankets
7. Slippers

I would like to extend my/our sincerest THANK YOU to all the people, organizations, heads of each countries, who give their efforts to help us. We really appreciate all your efforts.

If there's an error about everything I've said, I am sorry. I just couldn't think of a very good idea to help my fellow countrymen who were devastated by the wrath of the Super Typhoon Yolanda.

NBA, NBPA donate $250,000 to Typhoon Yolanda Victims

http://www.nba.comNEW YORK (November 10, 2013) – The National Basketball Association (NBA) and National Basketball Player’s Association (NBPA) today have teamed up to donate $250,000 to the US Fund for UNICEF in support of UNICEF’s emergency relief efforts in areas of the Philippines ravaged by Super Typhoon Haiyan. The latest estimates indicate that as many as four million children could now be affected by the disaster, and the donation will aid UNICEF in providing children and families with immediate necessities including food, water, and medicine.

“We are incredibly grateful to the NBA and NBPA for their generosity and commitment to helping UNICEF save children’s lives,” said Caryl Stern, President and CEO of the US Fund for UNICEF. “When a natural disaster strikes, the need to rush supplies to those affected is critical, and both the NBA and NBPA have consistently sprung to action to support UNICEF’s emergency relief efforts for more than 10 years.”

The NBA Family is also assisting UNICEF in raising awareness of the urgent support needed for children and families in the Philippines. Miami HEAT Coach Erik Spoelstra will appear in a US Fund for UNICEF Public Service Announcement to help raise funds for relief efforts.

In July 2009, Spoelstra embarked on what would be the first of four trips back to his native Philippines.  In each of these trips, he has hosted basketball and coaches clinics, promoted the importance of education, healthy living and wellness, while being able to reach close to 10,000 underprivileged youth through these efforts.  In 2011, the nine-day program in Manila was the largest NBA FIT event ever hosted in Southeast Asia under the NBA Cares umbrella.  During the summer of 2012, Spoelstra expanded this program to include the country of Singapore.

Children who escaped Haiyan still need urgent assistance to survive in the aftermath of the storm. Health is an urgent priority due to the impact of the typhoon on water supplies and sanitation systems. Children also need safe and protected spaces to be able to play and continue their education while adults work to recover their homes and livelihoods.

UNICEF is mobilizing therapeutic food for children, as well as kits containing health, water and hygiene supplies, from stocks already available in the country, to support up to 3,000 families in the affected areas. As soon as access is possible, these supplies will be distributed to the hard-hit area of Tacloban.

http://www.unicef.org/philippines/
UNICEF is airlifting $1.3 million worth of additional supplies from its warehouse in Copenhagen for another 10,000 families, including those affected by the recent earthquake in Bohol. The shipments contain water purification tablets, soap, medical kits, tarps, and micronutrient supplements.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In behalf of all the Filipinos who were in grief and in deep sorrow, We  wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to NBA/NBPA who donated the said amount to UNICEF, that would help our Filipino kababayans a lot. And to UNICEF, THANK YOU also for the immediate action in helping us all.

SUPER TYPHOON YOLANDA (Haiyan) - DEADLIEST TYPHOON THE PHILIPPINES HAD EVER FACED THIS YEAR.

The Philippines is an archipelago which consists more than 7,100 islands and was hit by an average of 20 typhoons or tropical storms each year, with some of which, kill hundreds and sometimes thousands of people.

Studies shows that storms are created above the warmer waters of the Pacific Ocean near the equator, and the Philippines is often the first major landmass that would be hit as they move northwest.

Some government authorities say climate change is increasing the ferocity and frequency of the typhoons.

Haiyan, is one of the strongest ever recorded in the world, and is the Philippines' 24th tropical storm or typhoon of the year, exceeding the annual average.

However, some scientists said, it is premature to blame climate change, and the Philippines has endured many devastating typhoons that have each, claimed many hundreds of lives.

The following are the 10 deadliest typhoons on record in the Philippines.

1. Tropical Storm Thelma unleashes flash floods on the central city of Ormoc on Leyte island on November 15, 1991, killing more than 5,100.

2. Typhoon Bopha smashes into the main southern island of Mindanao on December 3, 2012. Rarely hit by major storms, the unprepared region suffers about 1,900 people dead or missing.

3. Typhoon Ike hits the central Philippines on August 31, 1984, killing 1,363 people.

4. Typhoon Washi hits the northern part of Mindanao island on December 16, 2011, killing at least 1,080 people.

5. Floods and landslides unleashed by Typhoon Trix kill 995 people in the Bicol region of the main island of Luzon on October 16, 1952.

6. Typhoon Amy rakes across the central islands from December 9, 1951, killing 991 people as it unleashed floods and landslides and caused a massive storm surge that destroyed large sections of Negros island's west coast.

7. Storm surges struck the eastern city of Legazpi on November 25, 1987 as Typhoon Nina roared into the Bicol region, where it also unleashed deadly mudslides down Mayon Volcano. The disaster caused 979 deaths.

8. Typhoon Fengshen tracked an erratic and destructive path across the central islands and nearby areas from June 20, 2008, killing 938 people.

9. Typhoon Angela, one of the strongest storms to ever hit the Philippines with gusts of up to 260 kilometres an hour, caused carnage in Bicol and later Manila from November 2, 1995, killing 936 people.

10. Typhoon Agnes struck the central islands from November 5, 1984, killing 895 people.

Have you ever wondered how to activate your Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 version software without the installer CD and its key? Without activating your copy of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010  you will encounter some problems opening, editing, modifying and saving documents. Sometimes, the main man in-charge for it is the one who we ask for their services to fix our computers, may it be a desktop or a laptop.

Yes, you're right, I am talking about computer technicians. After reformatting our computers, we may ask them or we don't need to ask them if they include the Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 to their formatting package. Although most technician always includes the package, they also might forget to update or activate the Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 installed in our computer.

When the time comes that we do something on one of the applications from Microsoft Office, and encountered some activation notifications, saying that we need to activate our copy of Microsoft Office to perform the full control of its service, this will give us problem knowing we don't have a copy of the product/serial key with us.

We don't need to call of course the service of the technician since we know calling them and have it fix would allow them to receive another payment for their services, which they already should secure when they install the software right from the start.

So, how can we do it by ourselves?

This tutorial will guide you through it.

Remembering Francis "Kiko" Magalona thru KALEIDOSCOPE WORLD

One of the most remarkable video ever to be produce this year. Imagine the father and his son appearing in one video shot eighteen (18) years apart which exactly happened in a rehashed music video featuring Elmo Magalona and his late father Francis M performing the latter's hit song "Kaleidoscope World".

Excerpt from Yahoo! Philippines OMG
According to Mrs. Pia Magalona, she's beyond please to see the end-product of the collaboration.

"With this video, when it was presented to me for Elmo to make a tribute, I was apprehensive because I didn't want it to come out bad," she told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! "The video has achieved a tug at my heart. It has surpassed what I has expected in terms of quality."

The time machine of a video became a hit a few hours after it was uploaded by Oishi.

A sentimental Pia told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! that seeing his son and late husband together brought some memories at a time when doing a music video two decades back was no easy task.

"When we were making music videos back then, it was unheard of. There was never any budget for it from the label so we had to come up with it."

"Out of the many songs of Francis M, we had less than five music videos, I think. This song in particular was very anthemic because it deals with diversity and with encouraging everyone to unite, so it's a good thing there's enough footage to be used so he could be brought in to be with his dad."

For the mother of eight, she and the iconic Master Rapper agreed that each of the songs he wrote should be taken care of like their own children.

"We treated his songs like our children, but we never played favorites. Just like children, you would like it to go on forever, on to the next generation."

Pia also related that the song was particularly inspired because it speaks of creating a world of diversity, peace and unity: "Our concerns was, of course, bringing up our children. That's why he wrote such song because we wouldn't like them growing up in such a bad environment."

The message was so personal, it even translated in the video. On the top shot of the video, then months-old Elmo is seen carried by Pia as the rest of their five kids (Maxene, Saab, Frank, Unna, and Nicolo) are scattered on the floor.

The new video shows the old and the new generation of Magalonas collaborating with the same message that's relevant to this day. It even shows Francis M's parents, the late actors Tita Duran and Pancho Magalona.

"When you look at his songs now, it's ageless, it is timeless because it still applies to now. All the complaints are still the same."

"His legacy is mostly about the songs he wrote that are to do with our country and our culture. We always find a way for this to go on so the Filipino people will not forget what Francis M has done before."

In life and in death, FRANCIS M's music lives on.

Sir Francis "Kiko" M lives on.

Need help activating Windows and Microsoft Office 2016 and beyond?

Hey guys! It's been a while since I posted an article here. And if I'm not mistaken, that was two (2) or three (3) years ago? I hop...
